ABOUT DPIIT IPR Chair, Saurashtra University Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has formulated a Scheme for Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for Holistic Education & Academia (SPRIHA) (hereinafter, "scheme") to encourage the study of, education in, research on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), as well as to promote outreach on Intellectual Property matters. It supports development of academic courses at undergraduate to doctoral levels, organization of seminars and workshops, and promotion of IP filings and internships. DPIIT IPR Chair, Saurashtra University seeks to create a robust ecosystem that fosters innovation, encourages respect for intellectual property, and builds national capacity in IP through structured academic and outreach activities.
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The DPIIT IPR Chair at Saurashtra University is organizing a Moot Court Competition on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) with the objective of enhancing students’ practical understanding of IPR laws and legal procedures. The competition aims to provide a simulated courtroom experience where participants will research, draft memorials, and present arguments on contemporary IPR issues such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, and related disputes. This initiative seeks to develop advocacy skills, legal reasoning, and awareness about the significance of intellectual property in innovation and business, while encouraging students to engage actively with real-world legal challenges in the field of IPR.
This area of law addresses complex questions around ownership, originality, and brand distinction, making it a vital tool for maintaining both economic value and market integrity in a rapidly evolving digital and global landscape.
The event will be held on 5th August, 2026 Wednesday and will bring together students from law colleges across the country. It will create a great opportunity for learning, mooting, and discussion.
